Breast cancer became a frightening reality for her when her grandmother was threatened with the disease. She always thought, breast cancer was something that happened to other people. She never expected it ti threaten her or someone she loved. It was during the period when her family had to wait for her grandmother's test results, that the harsh reality of it all, hit home. As she researched this disease, desperate to learn all she could about it, she was shocked by how many lives are affected by breast cancer. It was then too, that she realized, this disease does not discriminate; it can affect anyone, anytime, anyplace. That was then, she decided that she wanted to be part of the fight against its spread. Fortunately for Taylor and her family, her grandmother was one of the lucky women, who did have to face the devastating effect, that a diagnosis of breast cancer brings.

Taylor has been involved in community service activities through her participation in Relay for Life, in creating, “Team Tay Tay” for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, Children's Miracle Network Car washes, Krasl Are Fair, Parade of Homes, Campus Clean Up, and speaking to the Coloma Lioness Club. Additionally, she has raised money for the cause, by selling Breast Cancer Bottle Top Necklaces, Pink Blankets,  and holing a Pampered Chef party.

After graduating form Coloma High School, Taylor has a dream of becoming a Physician's Assistant. Her plans are to attend the University on Southern California, to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Med, with a minor in Acting, and then continue in the two year Physician's Assistant Program to obtain her Master's Degree.

Taylor attained the title of Miss Southwest Michigan Teen 2010 on August 27th, 2011. In addition to winning the title, she was awarded five other scholarships which include: Community Service, Academic, Speech, Photogenic, and Ticket Sales.
