2019 Miss Southwest Michigan Teen

Alivia Grace Abram

Platform: Enriching the Lives of Children Through Music

Alivia Grace Abram, Miss Southwest Michigan Teen 2019, passionately believes every child needs to have music in their life. Ever since she was five years old, music has been an enormous part of her life and personality. While learning music, she has also learned skills such as responsibility and discipline. However, though she was fortunate enough to have an amazing musical experience in her younger years, she understands not everyone is able to have that same experience. She believes if more children are able to experience and learn about music they would have an outlet for their emotions, as well as, learning how to work and interact with the people around them.

Although she likes to keep her thoughts in the present so she doesn’t miss the amazing moments happening right now, she has thought about and made goals for her future. As of right now, she plans to continue performing in local musicals through her school and Children’s Music Workshop, a nonprofit organization located in the Southwest Michigan area. One of her goals for high school is to become the Spirit of Bridgman Marching Band Drum Major, as well as, graduating with stellar grades. She also plans on joining Key Club, playing on the tennis team, and participating in any and all shows offered through her school that her schedule will accommodate. After high school, she plans to go to college to receive a major in music and a minor in acting. She hopes to continue living her theatrical dream by becoming a professional actor on Broadway, but more realistically, she would like to become the conductor of a local orchestra.

Alivia resides in Bridgman with her parents, Reiny and Trish, and has one older sister. She has three pets, a dog named Oreo, a cat named Nala, and Skittles the turtle. Alivia is a fourteen year old student at F.C. Reed Middle School where she is in the eighth grade. At school, she is an honor student and Vice-President of the Student Council. Alivia was chosen to participate in the state of Michigan’s Honor Band performance in both seventh and eighth grade. She also enjoys volunteering in the children’s ministry at her church.

During her year of service as Miss Southwest Michigan Teen 2019, Alivia plans to promote her platform by raising money to help more children have the opportunity to earn scholarships toward participating in Children’s Music Workshop productions. She hopes to not only give more children the opportunity to experience music, but also to make more people aware of a child’s need for music. She firmly believes music can enhance a child’s quality of life, and because of it possibly make them better adults.
